Biz Magarity began practicing yoga in 2000 and is an ’06 graduate of the Wake Up Yoga Teacher Training program. She lives in Fairmount with her husband, Brad, and daughters, Kass and Nell. She has an affable and friendly approach to teaching yoga, and beginning yoga students find that she makes the practice of yoga very accessible and even fun. Biz teaches 2 Vinyasa classes, Brand New Beginners and a Prenatal yoga class at Wake Up Yoga.

"I love introducing new students to yoga. Knowing that they may one day get the same amount of joy and peace from their own yoga practice is truly inspiring and motivating. Yoga is all about the experience. I want to bring students, new and old, along with me on my journey to find their own experiences."

Over the last few years practicing and teaching within this yoga community, I have been inspired by the many wonderfully creative and interesting people. Being swept up by this creative tide, I opened Bija yoga shop at Wake Up Yoga South. Bija is the Sanskrit word for Seed, to reflect the vision that this shop is growing from within the community. The mission of Bija - a locally grown yoga shop - is to be an outlet for local vendors, artisans and craft persons. When a yogi or yogini feels the “urge to splurge”, feel good that you may be supporting the artist that has been practicing yoga on the mat right next to you. For those yoga accessories and props that I have not been able to find within the community, I make every effort to ensure that the products come from environmentally and socially conscious vendors.
